MERRY GLOW, prominently placed from the start, wore down COLLEGE BELLE for the lead after passing, the eighth post and, fighting it out stubbornly with IS I AINT, outlasted the latter at the end. IS I AINT worked his way up on the outside, moved up determinedly when reaching the stretch and fought it out stubbornly to the close. ROUGH HONEY, hard ridden to keep pace early, closed willingly in the stretch to finish in a dead heat with STATURE. The latter, away slowly, moved up gradually and, closing with good energy, was along in the last stride to draw on even terms with ROUGH HONEY. AGRADEL was unable to better his .position under pressure. VALDINA CLOUD was unable to reach the leaders. COLLEGE BELLE drew clear before reaching the stretch, but faltered badly in the last eighth. NOSIR, slow to begin and working his way forwardly through the back stretch while under steadying restraint, closed willingly through the stretch and wore down the leaders to increase his lead steadily in the last sixteenth. HADA STAR displayed speed from the start, disposed of ROLLSBUZZY for command and, rated along under stout restraint, met stubborn opposition from DRIVING POWER and, while holding him safe, was unable to cope with the winners bid. DRIVING POWER moved up on the outside when reaching the back stretch and held on willingly to the close. WINDSHIELD bettered his position gradually and held on well to the end. ORCADES closed some ground, but was unable to engage the leadersl ROLLSBUZZY tired after showing early speed. TOP STAFF was never prominent. DAISY BOY quit. MISFLYING was steadied along within striking distance of the pace established by TIDES IN, went to the front with a rush when reaching the stretch and was never seriously threatened to the end. SHRIMPIE, taken back of the pace for three-quarters, moved up determinedly in the last quarter and finished gamely. BAR COPPER finished willingly in the stretch, but was unable to threaten the first two. TIDES IN went to the front, in the opening strides and drew away into a comfortable lead, but faltered in the last three-sixteenths. ANZAC was unable to enter serious contention. MISS VOGUE began moving up in the last five-sixteenths and held on willingly during the stretch run. MIS-" INTERPRET responded gamely to pressure through the stretch run. BLUE EVA was unable to threaten the leaders. EVAPORATE was outrun. NEDS QUEEN acted unruly before the start, and was outrun. The lower part of the back stretch was enveloped in a heavy fog. NATOMAS finished with good energy during the stretch drive. SILVER GRAIL, away slowly, swung to the outside in the stretch and was going stoutly at the end. LAYAWAY came into the stretch in front, but faltered in the last eighth. SPIRAL PASS had good speed; but tired in the Stretch run. POWDER BLUFF showed early speed, but faltered undeF punishment in the final drive. ALL FREE quit badly after a brief flash of early speed. CHOP STICKS tired.. BEAU BRANNON outran his field from the start "and, opening up a good lead, was rated along under steadying restraint, then was placed to hard urging in the stretch, but was never seriously threatened. DON MOSS, reserved until leaving the back stretch, moved up gamely when placed under pressure and, though closing willingly, was unable to seriously threaten the winner. THE SHAUGRAUN, well placed all the way, finished willingly. LOVELY DAWN, in closest pursuit of the pace most of the trip, tired through the last five-sixteenths. PRIMA DONNA, outrun to the last three-eighths, made up some ground under punishment, though never a factor. HASTE ON Was unable to keep up. EIGHT ROLLS trailed most of the way.
