SAM HOUSTON took command before going a quarter, set the pace to the stretch under pressure from LA ZONGA, held on well in the drive and just lasted. LA ZONGA raced in closest pursuit of the winner throughout, came determinedly in the drive and finished resolutely, just missing. TRY FIN began slowly, worked way up steadily on the outside and closed with a rush in a sharp effort. BEBEJA saved ground when outrun to the final turn and came stoutly thereafter, but could not be persevered with in the final sixteenth when her rider broke a stirrup strap. CANT LOSE tired after showing good speed to the stretch. COLUMBUS DAY began slowly and was. never dangerous. DARK LAD lacked early speed. FLASH TOWN was always outrun. BY CONSCRIPT gave way suddenly after racing forwardly placed the first half mile. UNCLE JOCK could not keep up. PATRIOT was done early. MORE ROMAN was overmatched. The latter worked his way up steadily on the inside, responded to vigorous urging, in the final quarter and was getting to the winner at the close. PATRAS raced to the front soon after the start and established a good lead, but tired in the closing stages. WICKET began slowly and finished fast under punishment. NANCYS, SON was never dangerous. ROBUSTI, far back and outrun for three-quarters, came to the inside for the drive and, after making a bold bid, tired. -.FIERY STEEL was done when he reached the stretch. SWEET OLGA, in hand while saving ground to the upper turn, responded readily when called upon and, after taking command in the stretch, drew c out to win as her rider pleased. JO ANN raced in closest pursuit of JEZARA through the first half mile, went to the front approaching the final turn and held on gamely thereafter, but could not withstand the winner. JEZARA, much used engaging JO ANN the first half mile, failed to stay when subjected to punishment. LIBERTY CLOUD came to the outside entering the stretch, but could not improve his position. CYNTHIA FAIR began slowly, worked her way up steadily on the outside and came determinedly when subjected to punishment in the drive, but could not reach the winner. HALLIE dropped back after the start and was outrun to the stretch, then finished fast. BABY THERESE went evenly throughout and had no excuses. PERAGRA, on the inside from the start, was timidly ridden. GAY ELF went to the front before going a quarter and set the pace for a half mile, then faltered. OVALA was unable to keep up. BETROTHED was always outrun. BOSKY DELL tired.
