Sprinters Will Dominate Todays Card at Omaha Civic and Governmental Meeting Gets Off to Excellent Start N OMAHA, Neb., May 26. With the Ak-Sar-Ben meeting settled down to an even keel, horsemen are anxious to get their racers into action in the spots that their charges seem best fitted, from the way they placed their entries for the second days card -of seven races. This 30-day meeting, which the management has, made arrangements to turn over 100 per cent of the profits, to civic and government service organizations, has promise of being the most successful meeting held at this mile oval in years. The calibre of horses is far the better class of thoroughbred that has raced here in previous years. Even the horsemen and all who visit the secretarys office for the overnight entries are doing their part, as the overnights go at a penny a piece and the money so gathered, is turned over to the Red Cross chapter of Omaha. As in the past, racing secretary R. A. Leigh will card seven-race programs for the week days and eight contests on Saturday. This schedule will not.prevail throughout the meeting, as the last few weeks will have eight races daily, with a handicap on each Wednesday and Saturday. Wednesdays card for seven races, although without an outstanding feature event, brings together an abundance of well-filled events and all are packed with competition. The fifth race on the program which has been titled the Man 6 War Purse, in honor of the great American sire, will take- the place of a feature. This contest, which is for four-year-olds and older, brings together seven sprinters to vie for honors over the six-furlong course. Of those entered to face starter Noel Chilcutt, Lee Heltons Pearl Alma appears to have a slight edge. The Man o War, a claiming; event, is rounded out with such sprinters as Willy, Cantwell, Bert W Subdeb, Skdokumchuck and San Ignacio. Sprinters will hold the spotlight on this card of seven races as six pf the events are scheduled to be contested over the routes of six furlongs and under, with only the seventh event a route test, one mile and 70 yards.
