V Kentucky Breeding LEXINGTON, Ky., May 28. Shut Outs orphan sister is one of the best looking yearling fillies, at Mrs. Payne Whitneys Greentree Farm. Technically, she is his half sister, being a daughter of Questionnaire Goose 5sg. Shortly after foaling the Questionnaire filly last year, Goose Egg died, leaving the miss to be raised by a foster mother. The Chicle mare had jiot produced a foal since 1939, the ,-year she dropped Shut Out. Every foal of Goose Egg of racing age has won, with the exception of the non-starter, All Around. BlessecT Again, a. Bradley-bred stake winner, not only was a good race mare for Mrs. Py. J. Murphy, Evansville, Intl., but also is a good brood mare. Her first foal is the Aneroid colt of stake caliber, Take Away. Her second foal is an impressive looking yearling filly by Bull Dog. The latter is a .favorite" of Mrs. Murphy because he sired tier former stake winning racer, Little Nymph. The foaling season is over at Col. E. R. ! Bradleys Idle Hour Farm. Olin Gentry, the farm manager, states that 30 youngsters arrived at the nursery this year, 16 colts and 14 fillies. "Bimelech might be dominant for edits," comments Gentry. "This was his first crop nine foals, seven of them colts." Colonel Bradley is much impressed with -the first crop by Bimelech. All of the foals expected at Robert Fair-bairns Fairholme Stud, near Winchester, havcarrived. Having a rare turn of good fortune, Fairbairn got a high percentage of colts. Nine of the 12 foals are colts, only three being fillies. The manager at Fairholme Stud is Carter Thornton. Dr. John MacLeod, of a New York hospital, is here studying sterility in thoroughbred stallions.. He is studying in particular the cases of Twenty Grand, who has never sired a foal, and Boojum, who sires an unusually low percentage of foals. He is also studying other cases. Silyerdale, sire of the promising juvenile, Centredale, is no longer at stud here. The son of The Porter is now standing at Dr. J. G. Elders Dixie Farm near Chicamauga, Ga., having been transferred there last summer. Dr. Elder owns 18 brood mares. Elf Lock, dam of the stake winner, Tangled, was barren this year. She has been returned to the court of Sweeping Light, sire of Tangled, and is believed tov be in foal.
