Preparations for what is sure to be the biggest day of the . Lincoln Fields meeting will be completea " except for a few details tomorrow when .the card is drawn for Saturdays Decoration Day offering. The Lincoln" Fields - Jockey Club is looking for one of the largest Crowds irfits history this week-end for the occasion is framing one of its most appealing cards. The"Francis S. Peabody Memorial Handicap, at a mile and a sixteenth, will share the spotlight with the presentation of the tracks gifts of 5,000 each to the Army and Navy Relief Funds, but there also are " several other features sure to excite great interest among fans. One of the chief supporting . events on - the holiday card is the Memories Handicap, while two others are a mile event for platers in the higher claiming bracket and a dash for maiden two-year-olds. The lat-ters appeal lies in the chance that some future star will be uncovered and also a possible contender or two for the Joliet Stakes, which is to be run a week later. The Memories Handicap, for threj-year-o.lds and upward, will be contested at six furlongs, and thus is sure to bring into -competition many of the leading sprinters of the Middle West. Racing secretary William H. Shelley today was accepting entries for this event, and he was excepting to have as .many as twelve contestants. Entries for theother, two supporting attractions do" not close until tomorrow when the entire program for Saturday will be . assembled. The .race, which carries an added purse of ,000, may not bring out a large field, but indications are that it will engage a well matched one. . Some of the principal nominees for this popular stake are Howard Wells Equifox, Herbert M. Woolfs Signator and Technician, Walter Hoffman, Jr.s Royal Crusader, Jake Lowensteins Heartman, John Marschs Bulldinger, C. V. Yaegers Pump-gun, W. A. Osbornes Step By, Charles E. Perkins Clearmont, Morris Vehons Stinging Bee, Mrs. L- B. Muschals Cherry Trifle and Endovhia and TerrysVinum. Twenty-two horses are eligible for the Peabody, but Shelley said today that he did not expect more than eight to make up-the field. Most of the leading nominees are likely to be in the race, however, and in that event the stake should prove a spectacle well worth watching. That the program will attract a huge attendance already is seen by the great number of demands for reservations. Most of the boxes and other reserved accommodations already have either been sold pr ordered, and that sort of response from the public usually augurs for a turnout of near record proportions.
