Seven Grade D Sprinters Named for Delaware Event DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 24. The Middletown Purse, a six furlongs event matching seven Grade D sprinters, headlines Delaware Parks off-day program which has small fields in all but the jumping race, th efield event having attracted 17-maiden leppers. Frequent winners and handicap performers during the past several years grace the Middletown field, with the weights suggesting that a very wide open betting affair and keenly contested race will result. Named overnight to compete are W. W. Vaughans Lanlast, H. L. Straus Quarter Moon, Deer-ing Howes Cassis, C. T. Chenerys Hornbeam, E. C. Eastwoods Challamore, Clynm-lira Studs Epuinimous and Brandywine Stables Pompion. To select a probable favorite form the overnight field would truly be a guessing game, for all but" Challamore have scored impressively in recent weeks and no one can doubt the class of the Eastwood speedster. While he has been unable to reach the charmed circle this year, Challamore has performed fairly well while racing with some of outstanding sprinters in Maryland. One who surprise here last week to win a route race in galloping fashion was Cassis, a son of Bull Dog who, at one time, was regarded as one of the countrys top sprinters. In his recent victory he was comfortably in front throughout and reeled off the first six furlongs in 1:12, despite a track which was termed no better than "good" on that occasion. He was the initial winner for apprentice Eddie Parisen who will again be in the saddle tomorrow. , J . ,
