Potter Becomes Apprentice FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 24. Gordon Potter, under contract to Grissom and Sherman, became an apprentice rider Saturday when he piloted Trimdem to victory in open competition for his contract employers in Saturdays second race. The lad hails from Phoenix, Arizona, and tips the scales at 107. Jerry Rodriguez will make his engagements. Potter previously had ridden eight winners in the exhibition races for novice jockeys five this year and three last year.
