Novice Rider Charles Mullins Gams First Detroit Success FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 24. Novice riders were in action in the first race today and Charles Mullins, a 16-year-old lad from Lebanon, Ky., scored his first success when he brought Mrs. B. Hernandez Goodforme home before eight opponents at the end of the six furlongs test. The scored of the winner was a front running one and it was C. and K. Stables Mr X, that raced in second place all the way to two lengths in the wake of the winner at the end. A similar distance away Ski Dad was third for Anthony Graffagnini. Mullins was accepting the second mount of his budding career and Goodforme was somewhat overlooked in the wakering to return 6,30. Clear weather and a. fast track greeted the crowd of 13,000 as much warmer and more pleasant weather was in vogue.
