Black Knave Indicates Readiness for Fixture Works Six Furlongs in 1:15 for Betsy Ross at Suffolk Saturday SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 24. Black Knave, who races for the partnership of John J. McCarthy and Joseph A. Gavegagno, was on the track this morning for what probably was his last stiff workout before filling his engagement in the eleventh running of the 0,000 Miles Standish Stakes, five and one-half furlongs event for two-year-old colts and geldings, which features the week-end card. The bay son of Stick To Hazel Spears was sent three-quarters in 1:15 and accomplished his move impressively enough to indicate that he will be a factor in the Saturday feature. Black Knave, who was shipped in from Kentucky to fill his engagements in the Miles Standish and the 5,000 added Mayflower Stakes, six furlong event for two-year-olds which will headline the card on closing day, has had one race since arriving here. On that occasion the Stick To colt revealed plenty of class while defeating among others, two such good juveniles as S. D. Sidells Silee and Alfred Richers Fleet West. Weston Adams Oidenasai was also on the track for a move designed to fit him for Saturdays stake, in case trainer George Alexandra elects to send this maiden out after the top money. The Transmute Miss Mars colt breezed a half mile in :52, handily. Other probables for the Miles Standish include Mrs. H. C. Wolfes Herbie G., S. D. Sidells Silee, A. Shlagers Gay Pet, Reynolds Brothers Rum Runner, Oran Lodge Stables Gerham, James H. Carrs O. G. Kelley, R. B, Carrolls Rube and H. G. Bedwells Player Lee. There is also a chance that Circle M Ranch and William Helis will be represented in this event by one of their eligibles, although no announcements have been made.
