Oak Brook Challenge Cup to Be Run June 4 Six Races Will Be Offered on Program- Sanctioned by NSHA The second running of the Oak Brook Challenge Cup, feature race of Chicagos only steeplechase of the year, was announced by T. A. Mohlman, co-chairman of the race committee: The six-event program, sanctioned by the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association, and held under the auspices of the Oak Brook Polo Club, will be held, rain or shine, Saturday, June 4, on the Oak Brook race course at Hinsdale, 111. The Challenge Cup race is for four-year-olds and upward, to be run at a distance of three miles over four-foot rail fences. The event was won last year by Some Gold, a bay gelding by Gold Bug, out of Multeon, owned by Paul Butler of Hinsdale. In addition to the feature race there will be five other racing events. Entries from as far away as Tryon, N. C; Nashville, Tenn.; Louisville, Ky., and Indianapolis, Ind., as well as many local horses and riders are expected to compete. Layout of the mile - and - one - half Oak Brook race course was originated last year by Carter Brown of Tryon, N. C, internationally recognized steeplechase authority. The course is now considered as one of the finest in the country. Other races for the meet are: Ginger Creek Hunter Race — three and one-half miles over hunting fences; to be ridden in hunt uniform; only open to qualified hunters of- a registered hunt. Fox River Valley Plate — one mile over turf; to be ridden in silks or hunting attire; for three-year-olds and upward. The Rabbit Hill Hurdles — about one and one-half miles over hurdles; to be ridden in silks; for three-year-olds and upward. Ladies Race — about one mile on the flat; catch-weights; ratcatcher. Polo Race — one-half mile; to be ridden in polo attire. Other officers of the racing committee are Paul Butler, co-chairman, and A. D. Plamondon m., secretary. Committee members are Roy Keehn, Col. Wilson Evans, , Hayden Glatte, - L. F. Caufield, Harry Owen and George E. Van Hagen LIE.
