Juvenile Stakes Lures Field of Ten Ferd and Suleiman Clash at Belmont Our Tops, Nayy Chief, Fox Time and Great Admiral Others Entered Overnight BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L.L, N. Y., May 17.— The Juvenile, one of the time-honored stake offerings of the Metropolitan season, is the featured offerings of the midweek card at the Nassau County course tomorrow. This feature, with its endowment of 0,000 was instituted in 1874 at Jerome Park, and continued unbroken, with the exception of three runnings, 1895, 1911 and 1912 to date. When racing was abandoned at Jerome Park in 1890 the offering was transferred to Morris Park and in 1905 Belmont Park fell heir to the"" stake. In the long list of winners of this juvenile test can be found the names of some of the greats of American racing. For tomorrow, 10 were named of which More Sun and Great Admiral will race coupled as the Brookmeade Stable entry. Trie others in the race are Wise Bull, owned by J. J. Amiel; Vera S. Braggs Fox Time, Our Tops, owned by Circle M. Farm; E. P. Taylors Navy Chief, George D. Wideners Curtain Raiser, Walter M. Jeffords Suleiman, B. F. Whitakers Blue W. and Mrs. Andrew Schuttingers Ferd. This field is a representative one and with the exception of Blue W., Curtain Raiser and Great Admiral, have all graced the winners circle. Great Admiral is making his debut to racing and this fellow cost the mistress of Brook-meades menage 6,000. The youngster, a son of War Admiral and Sourdine, was consigned by the Mereworth Stud for the Lexington, Ky., Vendues. Each of Trio Carries 122 Suleiman, Ferd and Wise Bull will each carry 122 pounds, while the non-winners are assigned 113 each. The other starters carry 117. In the matter of weight assignments over the five-furlong distance down the Widener course there is little to choose. Pre-race forecasters were undecided as to whether Ferd or Suleiman would rule as the favorite. Suleiman turned in a smashing effort in his last start, blinker equipment was added, while Ferd has been consistent in his New York outings. He has to his credit a victory in an overnight offering and outfinished Navy Chief to take down the major award of the Youthful at Jamaica. He has not raced over the Widener course, while Suleiman scored his triumph on that straightaway in impressive fashion. Basil James will ride Ferd, while Doug Dodson will handle the Jeffords* colorbearer. The offering looms up as one of the outstanding two-year-old struggles at this session. It is possible that the winner of this test would establish himself as the best colt shown under colors in New York to date. Our Tops, owned by Circle M Farm, made his seasonal debut during the Hialeah meeting. The debut was successful although the youngster gave his supporters a few anxious moments before the race. He unseated his rider and trotted down the track toward the finish line. He was captured by an outrider and brought back. He showed no ill effects of the unscheduled journey as his subsequent triumph revealed. He will be ridden by . Steve Brooks.
