EIREANN saved ground while in hand to the stretch, was sent to the inside of SUN UMBER for the drive and, responding to brisk handling, wore down the latter in the last sixteenth. SUN UMBER, never far back, went to the front nearing the stretch and held on willingly during the drive, but could not withstand the -winner. MARQUEST, in close quarters immediately after the start, worked way forward to the stretch, then faltered when set down in the drive. RIEL FIRE could not better her position when set down through the stretch. EUGENE raced wide. SANTA ROSE-ANNA assumed an early lead and made the pace to the upper turn, then gave way. VINITA MAJOR, fractious at the post, had brief speed. BROWN RUIN broke down after going a quarter mile. Overweight— Eireann, 2 pounds; Sun Umber, 2. Sun Umber claimed by M. H. VanBerg. SWEET REWARD, away slowly and racing wide to the upper turn, continued on the outside to the stretch and, responding to brisk urging during the drive, wore down the leaders in the last sixteenth. BEE ROSE, away alertly, raced GLIDER PILOT into defeat before reaching the stretch, held on willingly thereafter, but was not good enough for the winner. FEDERAL AGENT, outrun early, was sent to the inside for the drive and finished stoutly. VITAMIN DEE drifted out entering the stretch, then closed determinedly. GLIDER PILOT made the pace for three-eighths, then gave way. BROWN CLIPPER failed to stay when set down through the stretch. LITTLE APPLE could not keep up. Scratched— 63314 Gold Chimes, 109. OLOS STAR raced evenly to the stretch, was sent between horses for the drive and wore down P0TSEY in the last sixteenth. POTSEY went to the front after disposing of GERRYS BUD and continued determinedly, but could not withstand the winner. BAR GRENADE raced evenly without mishap. SALIGNAC began sluggishly. ERINSVILLE drifted out during the stretch run. GERRYS BUD gave way after displaying early speed and bore out badly while tiring. COME TIGER was never dangerous. FOURTH RACE 5-8 MILE. BLACK DISC, forwardly placed from the start, went to the front after disposing of CRIMSON PET and then drew clear without need of urging. LUSTY, outrun to the stretch, was sent to the outside for the drive and finished fast under brisk handling. SEA-O-DEE raced evenly to the stretch and closed determinedly under punishment. CRIMSON PET went to the front early, engaged BLACK DISC to the stretch, then faltered while in close quarters for the drive. MISS GEE-DU tired after displaying early speed. TEDS0N could not keep up. MONTES PRIDE stumbled slightly immediately after the start, recovered under good handling and, after taking command in the stretch, lasted to withstand LOVELY NYMPH. The latter, far back and outrun during the first half, finished fast on the extreme outside. TAMEPRO, away sluggishly, raced wide while improving his position to the stretch and failed £ to rally when set down in the drive. SKY HEELS began fast, made the pace until inside the stretch, then weakened. SUFFAZON was never dangerous. HOT CHOCOLATE failed to stay after showing early speed. BLUE « JET, a sharp factor from the start, raced BUCKIE into defeat, then continued determinedly, but was unable to withstand the winner. BUSHEL raced evenly and had no excuse. VENTURE ON was outrun. FISH FRY never was dangerous. BUCKIE went to the front early, engaged BLUE JET to the stretch, then gave way. CHICKEN * HAWK, fractious at the post, raced wide and never entered serious contention.
