— Fervent Assigned 128 for Churchill Pegged Eight Pounds Over Free America, Papa Redbird In Downs Week-End Fixture CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 17. — Calumet Farms Fervent has been assigned the top impost of 128 pounds by the racing secretary for Saturdays edition of the 0,000 added Churchill Downs Handicap, seventh and final feature on the local spring stakes agenda. Free America, second of the three Calumet eligibles for this the twelfth running of the seven furlongs fixture, has been accorded equal second burden of 120 pounds along with Joseph A. Goodwins Papa Redbird, who sped to a smashing triumph in last Fridays Curtain Up Handicap at the Detroit Fair Grounds course. The once mighty Armed, also from the Warren Wright unit, will answer the bugle under 118 pounds, or six more than Helen S. Reinemans Carrara Marble, Lucas B. Combs Dark Jungle and Perne L. Grissoms Master Bid, all of whom lave been assessed with 112 pounds assignments. Closes With 30 Nominations The Churchill Downs Handicap which closed Tuesday, February 15 with 30 nominations was accounted for last year by G. R. Schneiders George Gains and also lists as former winners such outstanding performers as Louise J. Hickmans Arabs Arrow, Kings Blue, Royal Crusader, Best Seller, Dark Jungle, Traffic Court, Bull Play and Equifox. Calumet also nominated Citation, Coal-town and Bewitch for this years renewal of the traditional presentation, but they were declared previous to the issuing of the weights.
