Maryland Notes PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 18. Leo Cezar, Maryland Racing Commission aide, reports the arrival of a six-pound, eight-ounce boy. The youngster was born at Maryland General Hospital, Baltimore, and he and Mrs. Cezar are reported doing well. Sam Segretto and his trainer, Anthony Berrara, after shipping their eight-horse string to Detroit to await the May 25 opening, will spend a week in New Orleans prior to making the trip to the Motor City. ~ Nimble K Fox was shipped to Pimlico from the farm at Dillsburg, Pa., to join the string which trainer G. C. Smith has in action at the Maryland Jockey Club plant. Brazen Brat, three-year-old filly by Sky Raider out- of Geraldine, who won the Ran-cocas Stakes last season and was second in the Polly Drummond and Colleen Stakes, has been brought to Pimlico from the Bo-banet Farm to train in preparation for her 1951 debut. , H. C. "Pete" Allnutt reports that E. C. Gott, Jrs., Her Highness has foaled a filly by Equistone and will be sent to the court of Justin Funkhousers Noble Impulse. Agent John Wilkie has taken over the engagement book of apprentice Tim Mc-Gonigle, 105-pound lad who is under contract to trainer Jim Radney. Gregory Johnson, assistant racing secretary at Charles Town, W. Va., is distributing condition books for the second 1951 meeting at that point. Dates are from June 23 to July 14, inclusive, with 19 days of sport. Trainer Dan Chamblin was an arrival from New England with six horses and will remain for the rest of the Pimlic6v meeting. Frank J. Grand, Jr., returned to Suffolk Downs this morning after a visit to New Orleansfwhere his wife presented him with a baby daughter. Johnny Bejshak, former jockey who has charge of the jockeys room,at Pimlico, reports a total of 85 riders registered for the meeting to date. Trainer J. H. "Slim" Pierce was an arrival from Garden State Park with the horses New Fashion and Le Gaulois for the Palatine Stable. Palatine Stable shipped New Fashion to Pimlico from Garden State Park for Mondays program and lost the horse via the claiming route for ,000. The new owner is H. C. Allnut. In another claim, El Pacho passed from Mrs. H. J. Mohr to G. Y. Booker for ,000. Former jockey Phil Sage has taken over the training of five horses for E. E. Gaige during the illness of trainer A. Fitzpatrick. Sage has been first assistant to Fitzpatrick since the horses arrived here from Florida. % Apprentice Gerald Champagne, who hadnt won a race at the Pimlico meeting up to Monday, won the first event and then was moved into a second straight victory aboard Heddy B. His two victories resulted in a Daily Double of 06.40 after the winning Bee A. H. was disqualified and placed fourth in the second race. Danny Shea, well-known Maryland owner, trainer and breeder, has retured to the Baltimore track from Philadelphia where he" served as a judge in the National Horse Show held in the Pennsylvania city. The first week in June, Shea will go to Connecticut for a two-day judging stint at the Ox Ridge Show. a
