Of the 23 horses reported to be housed in the barn, 16 succumbed, and in addition to those first reported, have been added Overruled, Poesys Gift, Miss Conscript and Yassah Boss, charges of trainer William Allan of Toronto, Ont., Can. The fire which broke out in a stable located just off the five and one-half furlong pole along the backstretch was confined by firemen to the one unit. W. K. Smith of Boston, Mass., owner of four of the animals who perished, and Tom Payne, a groom, suffered minor burns in their efforts to liberate the stricken animals. These two -were the only- human casualties reported. About 0,000 worth of damage was reported by officials which is partially covered by insurance. Following is the complete list of horses destroyed: Paulas Choice, Fairy Story, River Flares, Sweet Eleanor, Joblots, Chama, Starry Dawn, Indian Barney, Challemain, Tetro, Primus, Kopeck, Poesys Gift, Over Ruled and Yassah Boss. Miss Conscript is also reported missing and is believed to have perished.
