Illinois Notes WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, III., May 18. Robert P. McAuliffe will depart Sunday for Fairmount Park where he will serve as state steward during the forthcoming Collinsville meeting. Emil Roehm also will journey to the Illinois course, where he will assume his regular position as a member..of the official staff. Bert Thompson, manager of the western division of the Jockeys Guild, departed for Portland Meadows. Thompson conferred with local rider and mid-western manager, Ike Bassett, during his visit. Acting for Ben Mohr, Jack Taylor purchased Chance Voyage from DanCataldo. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Trainer Frank Muth is conditioning the filly Marys Baby, owned by Mary Ann Smith, 13-year-old daughter of the Blue Grass sportsman. C. W. Winters arrived from his home at Milan, Indiana. Included in the Winters-owned Contingent, which is trained by J. P. Keezek, is the talented juvenile filly, Whirla Lea. According to Keezek, Whirla Lea will be pointed for the forthcoming Miss America Stakes. George Bacher, Jr., has made arrangements to transfer his stable to Omaha, Nebr., for the opening of the Ak-Sar-Ben meeting. Comprising the shipment will be Deltoid, Ginjoee, Linda Jane, Johline, and Challaught. Marion H. VanBerglxansf erred 10 members of his extensive unit to Detroit. Included in the shipment were Steady Beau, Miss Bob, Gay Senorita, Sugar Beet, Mon-falon, Brownanne, Milkwagon Joe, You Are You, Buddie Van, and Eternal Dream. Phil Reuter reported the arrival from Miami of his wife, Mrs. Estelle Reuter, and their daughter, Normalee. Both will stay in the Chicago area throughout the summer months. Charles Sanborn arrived with six horses from Churchill Downs and, received stabling accommodations at Lincoln Fields. Six members of the publicly-owned Milton Rieser unit came in Irom the Derby course. The remaining 14 members of the stable are expected to arrive Sunday. J. W. Snider came in from his home at East St. Louis. Snider has a sizable contingent of horses here trained by J. E. -Bilbrey.
