_ Moyer Protests Proposed Florida Ban on Race News MADISON, Nebr., May 25.— Earl J. Moyer, chairman of the Nebraska State Racing Commission and chairman of the legislative committee of the National Association of State Racing Commissioners, which organization he headed in 1949, yesterday registered a vigorous protest with Gov. Fuller Warren against the bill passed by the Flordia legislature prohibiting the publication of any racing news in that state except entries and results. The bill now awaits the governors signature. Moyer voiced his objection in the following telegram: "Legislation, which I understand your legislature has adopted barring the dissemination of news of legitimate services, including the press, is highly discriminatory against racing, and, in my opinion, is unconstitutional. Racing is not only a great sport, but one well regulated and, as pointed out by the Kefauver Committee, illegal gambling can be stamped out if existing local laws are rigidly enforced. I therefore respectfully urge you to withhold approval of any law or laws denying the freedom of the press, the effect of which can only be to place a blight upon a great sport." » i
