Arrange Six-Race Program At Oak Brook on June 23 The Oak Brook course, northwest of Hinsdale, will be the scene of the initial Midwest steeplechase meet this season, when the fifth annual Oak Brook Steeplechase takes place June 23. Michael W. Butler, chairman of the race committee, has arranged a six-race program which includes four contests over obstacles. The opening race will be a flat race of one mile on the turf, for three-year-olds and upward, and one of the features will be the Ladies Swift, a six-furlong sprint on the turf, for women riders, to be ridden in proper hunting attire. The obstacle races include: the Hunter race, three miles over hunting fences for four-year-olds and upward; Hurles race, two miles over hurdles for three-year-olds and upward; Timber race, three miles over timber, for four-year-olds and upward, and a Maiden Hurdle race, two miles over hurdles, for three-year-olds and upward. Theodore A. Mohlman, M.F.H., is again serving as racing secretary for the meet.
