JEAN METER broke alertly, quickly opened a comfortable lead, was kept in better footing and won easily. WISE MAHMOUD, forwardly placed along the inside, rallied in the late stages; but was not good enough. ETERNAL MAY closed with a determined rush along the rail. BATTLE BORN, steadied in the early stages, was unable to make up ground when roused. SIR GORHILL weakened. TROY ROAD, slow to settle into stride, was never a serious factor. ARKM0 tired after five furlongs. KHARTOUM and RIVER BOYNE were outrun. LADY DELL, forwardly placed and saving ground early, came, between horses in the stretch, caught the leader at the sixteenth pole and drew out quickly. .PICADELIA slipped through along the rail leaving the backstretch, engaged for the command, then tired. SIGNAL TEST moved up quickly through the stretch, but was unable to menace. VILLAGE BEAU closed stoutly from off the pace. TOP RAIDER, well placed on the outside, flattened out when put to pressure. AWARD went evenly. YARMOUTH FLARE was never prominent. REYNARD tired. PROBATION quit after failing to reach the leaders. MARUCA showed speed to the furlong pole, then quit badly. DAINTY ONE had speed from the start, was kept on the outside, went wide entering the stretch, responded to urging, closed stoutly and ducked to the inside, but was straightened in iime to nip GLORY LAR. The latter disposed of CHUBBY BOSS after a half mile, drew out and just failed to last. HASH KNIFE made up ground on the outside. CHUBBY BOSS faltered after five furlongs. JUNGLE JUICE, away smartly, was driven through along the rail to challenge the leaders, then faltered. WATER KELPIE, slow to settle into stride, came between horses near the end. FIORENTINA showed good speed from the start, continued to press on the final turn and was along to outfinish CROSS END. The latter established the pace from the start, saved ground, but was not good enough. GAY LEADER- raced close to the leaders and held on well. KING TWIG, kept out in the middle of the track within reaching distance of the pace, failed to rally in the drive. BELIEVE-IN-ME went evenly. BILL DYER had no mishap. LYNN Z. lacked early speed. TEL-AVIV, allowed to settle into best stride while outrun, worked his way up along the inside to engage the leader on the final turn, responded to steady urging and edged away from GLOAM at the end. GLOAM opened a long lead before a half mile, saved ground throughout and held on stubbornly. BIG ATOM saved ground to better late position. LENITY raced in spots. LITTLE AUD, steadied when unable to outrun the leader, remained close up to the final turn, then flattened out under urging. HAIR TONIC and PAPER MILL were outrun. UGLY CHILE swerved leaving the barrier, showed nothing in the early stages and passed tiring - horses in the final furlong. MARTONNA went to the front soon after the start, set the pace to the far turn, then weakened. STAR OF DUBLIN had no mishap. HIGHEST STAR moved into contention early, but lacked a late rally. G. RAY tired. SAFE BET flattened out after a brief challenge. LOVE STORY was unable to keep up. ST. LOUISAN had no mishap.
