Phantom Sea Concedes j Fairmount Foes Weight Takes Up 123 Pounds While He Engages Six in Handicap Test By PAT CATJDILL Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, HI., May 25.— Phantom Sea, crack son of Sea-biscuit, and owned by J. H. Nail, heads the field of seven named for the Fairmount Park Handicap, top billing of tomorrow nights nine-race program, with the veteran reinsman, Sammy Roberts, up. Phantom Sea has been assigned top impost of 123 pounds by racing secretary J. J. Klu-cina and will be spotting his opponents from 12 to 18 pounds. The feature, at six furlongs for three-year-olds and upward, carries a purse of ,000, and named to oppose the Nail color-bearer are Mrs. T. M. Pruettfs Market Tip, 110; A. P. Hensleys Jim Branch, 108; 5-H Stables speedy Irish Horn, 107; Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Holmans Cross Rings, 105; H. P. Tripletts Hopeful Sam, 106, and the lightweight of the field, Mrs. E. Oros Oswego Dr. with 103. Phantom Sea comes off a sparkling campaign at Sportsmans Park, where he accounted for two winning efforts. He was victorious in each of his three outings at Oaklawn Park and has a winning effort in Phoenix, Arizona, to his credit, to make a total of six victories this year. While Phantom Sea is certain to prove a strong public choice at post time, Market Tip will draw much interest off his recent effort when he finished second to the highly-regarded Provocative in a feature event at the Lincoln Fields meeting. Jim Branch will also come in for much support as he raced impressively here last season by winning his first outing and was narrowly beaten by Oswego Dr. in the Independence Day Handicap. Cross Ring raced wel at the Sportsmans Park meeting, fin- ishing second in his last effort when pitted against a good band of three-year-olds. Irish Horn cannot be disregarded either as this mare was able to win on two occasions in Phoenix, Arizona, and met better grade horses while racing at the western course. The Paul Schulte Motors Purse, a six-furiong allowance affair, supports the feature and a full field of 10 will match strides. J. C. Ellis* entry of Teapoy and Aunt Jayne Z. appear best of the group, but plenty of competition can be expected from such as J. H. Nails Evidence, Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Holmans Sante Fe, C. B. Goochs Barts Enegry and the 5-H Farms Little Jeff. The first race will go postward at 8:30 p. m., this being post time for all night programs. However, next Wednesday, Memorial Day, afternoon racing will prevail and post time for the first race has been set at 2:15 p. m. No racing will be presented at Fairmount Park on Monday night and racing will resume following the weekend on Tuesday night.
