Delaware Park to Offer I Daily Double This Year DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., May 25.— The Daily Double will be back at Delaware Park for the 1 irst time in nine years when the Stanton track opens its gates next Tuesday for a 32-day meeting. The Daily Double operation will be by means of the American Totalisator Companys new machine, but there will not be an adequate number of machines. The lack is due to construction difficulties and material shortages because of the defense program. Delaware Parks negotiations for machines began last year, and a contract was signed months ago for 35 Daily Double issuers. Assuming no further delays occur, the race meeting will begin with 15 machines in operation, all in the grandstand In connection with Daily Double wagering, Delaware Park will institute one of several innovations planned for the 1951 meeting in the form of the first and only hydraulic odds board extant, so far as is known. Track superintendent Clark M. Pardee is credited with this. The board displaying the possible double payoffs will at no time obstruct the racegoers view of the actual racing. ■
