MISS NAP was unable to improve her position during the late stages. FREE GIFT had no mishap. HAPPY WEST failed to stay. HONEST KNAVE and DIXIE PEBBLE never were dangerous. TECHNICOLOR raced DECK TALK into defeat to assume a clear lead on the final turn, tired during the late stages, but had enough left to prevail over SWIRLING. The latter came out for the drive and, under good handling, was rapidly overtaking the leader. NETCHERETTE, outrun "early, slipped through next to the inside rail on the near turn and closed resolutely. FATE failed to make up appreciable ground. NAVY PILOT tired. SPECIAL had no apparent excuse. DECK TALK, much used early, had little left: DUSTY DAYS retired steadily after having early speed. GOOD HOSTESS, always within striking distance, came out for the drive and, under adept handling, disposed of BOLO PAT, then gamely withstood LIKE A BREEZE. The latter, never far back, responded readily when shaken up for the stretch run and closed determinedly. HASTY SUN raced forwardly from the beginning while saving ground and finished with good courage. BOLO PAT forged to the front nearing the furlong marker, then held on tenaciously. SMART EVE made up some ground when hard ridden through the late stages. MAIL FROM HOME failed to gain the lead andtired. WHOSE and HASTY BLEN were always outrun. SHAFFIE quit. The latter sprinted into a commanding lead immediately after the start, held sway until well inside the final furlong, then weakened, just missing. ADAMS OFF OX made up considerable ground when roused for the drive and worked out seven furlongs in 1:27.* PHAROS , BROTHER began tardily and lost all chance. BELCON tired.
