Nine Compete in Breeders Stakes! Marylands Spring Season Ends Today Meeting of Jeannie C. and Blue Rhymer Adds Interest To Juvenile Test at Pimlico By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 25. — Marylands 55-day spring racing season, which embraced sessions at Laurel, Bowie and Pimlico, comes to its conclusion tomorrow afternoon with a week-end program featuring the transplanted Havre de Grace Breeders Stakes, a ,000 event for Maryland-bred two-year-olds. The distance is four and one-half furlongs and the overnight field includes nine youngsters, six of whom have already distinguished themselves with victories. The race shapes up as a speed duel between Alan T. Clarkes Jeannie C. and Mrs. Henry H. Hechts Blue Rhymer. The latter will have a running mate in Dillon G. Smiths For Rent. Rounding out the field are C. Ewing Tuttles More Better, Hazel B. MacCrowes Suze Sin, Mrs, W. C. Greers Sara Nick, N. J. Agnellos Pinnochio, K. A. OConnors Tattooed Lady and Watson Elliotts Christie Helen. Jeannie C. reached the races only last week and lived up to advance notices by galloping to a 12-length victory over maidens, covering four and a half furlongs in :53%. She was ridden by Rocco Sisto on that occasion and that veteran will be back in the irons tomorrow. Jeannie C. is a daughter of Alaking — Bola Mowlee, which makes her an own brother to Senator Joe, another of Clarkes capable speedsters. Mohr to Saddle Entry The Blue Rhymer — For Rent coupling, which will be saddled by George Mohr, will vie for favoritism with Jeannie C. Blue Rhymer shapes up as the more proficient of the team, having won three of her eight starts, beating as good a filly as Cinda in her last encounter with that one. For Rent comes up to the Breeders Stakes with two consecutive scores, the first over maidens and the other against ,500 claimers. Joe Culmone will be astride Blue Rhymer, and Nick Shuk, the seasons leading rider, has ■ been assigned the mount on For Rent. Of the others, only More Better seems capable of upsetting the figures, for she is definitely on the improve. The Cassis filly was third in her first two starts, then came back to graduate with a galloping four-length score while being timed in 1:01% for five-eighths of a mile. Suze Sin and Pinnochio have been winners thus far in the season but would have to improve considerably to beat tomorrows opposition. Suze Sin has won twice, once | over ,000 claimers and the other time against ,500 youngsters. Pinnochios victory came through the disqualification of Half Gigger at Laurel. Sara Nick, Tattooed Lady and Christie Helen are maidens, the latter having failed to start up to this time. Sara Nick was second to "Miss Lyric for ,000 in her lone appearance, - while Tattooed Lady has shown brief speed in each of her three starts.
