Sox Take Fourth From Bosox, 10-2 Blast Four Boston Hurlers for 15 Hits Maintain Three and a Half Game Lead Over New York; Busby Slams First Homer By ED SAINSBURY . United PressSports Writer The White Sox used the- bunt and the walk to start toward victory today and then turned on the slugging power for a 10 to 2 triumph over the Boston Red Sox, their fourth" in a row in the "five-game series. Pitcher Willard Nixon, who started .for Boston, was invulnerable for five innings, giving up only three hits, but two White Sox bunts in the sixth rattled him so badly he issued a Walk to tie the score and had to leave the game for Mel Parnell. Before the inning was over it was a four-run burst for the South Siders, more than enough to win. Eddie Stewart led off with v a double and both Orestes Minoso and Eddie Robinson beat out. the bunts. Nixon threw four straight balls to Al Zarilla to count the tying run and Parnell took over. Parnell had the same ailment and walked Jim Busby to force in the eventual winning tally. After Chico Carrasquel hit into a force play and Gus Niarhos struck out, Randy Gumpert singled for two more runs and Carrasquel was caught at the plate for the third out. Eighteenth -Score in Twenty Games It was the White Sox 24th win in 28 games and 18th in 20 contests. The victory, left the Comiskeys 3V2 games ahead of second place New York and 5V2 up on third .place Boston in the American League chase. The troubles which assailed Nixon and Parnell in the sixth were nothing compared to the eighth inning. Boh Dillinger led off with a single and Busby hit his first home run of the season. Carrasquel doubled and when Niarhos singled, Parnell was relieved by Bill Evans. He promptly gave up singles to Gumpert, Nelson Fox and Ed Stewart before Chuck Stobbs relieved him, and Stobbs .walked Minoso to force in the fifth run of-the inning. Fox scored the sixth counter after Robinsons fly to right. Gumpert went the distance for the White Sox for the fourth time this season, scoring his fourth victory against no defeats. He gave up eight hits and was in trouble in only two innings. Bostons first score resulted from Les Moss double, a sacrifice by Nixon, and Dom DiMaggios single. It was the twenty-fifth consecutive game in which DiMaggio has hit safely. The second counter came in the ninth when Bobby Doerr singled, advanced on Gumperts balk, and scored on DiMaggios third single of the contest. Nixon was charged with the defeat, his first against three wins, but the White Sox climbed the four Boston pitchers for 15 hits to increase their total for the past five games to 60 safe blows.
