EYE CATCHER, hustled to the front immediately after the beginning, held sway to the stretch under intermittent pressure, then gamely withstood DANCE BAND. The latter saved ground along the rait during the early running, came to the outside for the drive and gradually was overtaking the leader. OBSTINATE SI failed to respond when called upon for his best effort ON THE RIVER closed with a belated burst of speed in a good effort. PLAY AGAIN failed to gain the lead arid tired. HALS LINDA and IRISH WASH were always outrun. PARK PIGEON never threatened. PROVIDENT refused to break with his field and was not persevered with while sulking during the running. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. ETERNAL FLIRT made the pace to the stretch under steady rating and maintained her advantage thereafter when placed to pressure. GUNTER moved up boldly nearing the furlong marker, but, under brisk urging, was unable to overtake the top one. SGT. BROWN closed with good courage and perhaps would prefer a longer distance. INFINOTTO, shuffled back on the far turn when between horses, finished willingly when celar. NIFTY was unable to keep up. DASHA failed to gain the lead and tired. PHANTOM HEELS, forced to take up nearing the three-furlong marker, failed to recover. APPEASER raced wide throughout. PETER VINEGAR, slow to reach best stride, was forced to take up slightly when impeded nearing the three-sixteenths marker, recovered gamely to take command during the concluding strides and won drawing away. TRIM BULL held a clear lead when settled for the stretch run, then faltered. DEAL ME IN reached closer contention entering the stretch, but lacked a convincing rally. MISS REVOKED, much used early, had little left. DOCEAN failed to stay. ROYAL IRISH began tardily, was rushed into contention, then tired. BOLDNESS was outrun. DELTA EAGLE, always within striking distance while saving ground along the rail, remained on the inside when shaken for the drive and, under -punishment, was up in the final strides to outgame CONNIES BOY. The latter raced VISIONAL into defeat to assume a slight advantage nearing the furlong marker and continued on gamely thereafter in a sharp effort. SAINT NICHOLAS finished resolutely and was rapidly getting to the leaders. RODRIGO rallied too late to seriously menace the top ones. HYPOSTYLE failed to attain the lead while racing on the outside. Won driving; second and third the same. CIRCUS CLOWN took command with a rush immediately after the start, held sway to the stretch under steady rating, gave way momentarily to MR. FOX inside the final furlong, then came again under adept handling. PROVOCATIVE moved up gamely between horses entering the stretch to reach nearly even terms with the winner and held on tenaciously in a sharp effort MR. FOX came-out for the drive to reach the lead midway of the final furlong, then tired slightly. MISTER MORGAN was unable to improve his position when ridden through the late stages. The later, guided to the inside for the drive, finished determinedly and was rapidly overtaking the leader. WORCESTER closed resolutely and appears ready for a creditable route effort. CASTILE, prominent. from the beginning, forged to the front on the final turn, opened a commanding lead entering the stretch, drifted out while . tiring during the stretch run, interfered with YARDTOWN, but, under left-hand punishment, lasted to prevail over the latter. CASTILE was disqualified for fouling and placed second, YARDTOWN gave way to the winner after a half mile, moved up gamely on the outside midway of the final furlong, was bumped by the. latter and, as a result, was unable to regain the lead. SUGAR PETE failed to make up appreciable ground. PEANUTS GIRL was in close quarters during the stretch run. BODENS PAL lacked speed. BLEWSO tired under punishment.
