Brooklyn Comes From Behind To Top Cards in Ninth, 3-2 NEW YORK, N. Y., June 5 UP.— Roy Campanulas ringing ninth-inning double scored Carl Furillo and gave Brooklyn a come-from-behind 3 to 2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals today plus a four-and-a-half game lead in the National .League pennant race. The victory, achieved at the expense of left-hander Howie Pollet, gave the Dodgers their biggest first-place margin since the 1947 season. % Furillo started the ninth by drawing a base on balls. After trying to bunt, Camp-anella leveled off on a pitch and drove it over Peanuts Lbwreys head in center field. Lowrey frantically scrambled for the ball and his relay to Al "Red" Schoendienst and then to catcher Joe Garagiola, was just too late to catch Furillo, who slid home with the winning run. The score by innings: R.H.E. Cardinals 000 002 000 — 2 9 2 Dodgers 000 000 111—3 6 0 Munger, Pollet 8 and Rice, Garagiola 9; Hatten, King 6 Erskine 8 and Campanella. Winning pitcher, Erskine 5-4, losing pitcher, Pollet 0-3. Home run— Hodges 18.
