Central Division of HBPA To Hold Election June 12 Thompson, Gaal and Kohout Are Candidates for Vice-Presidency WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., June 5. — Harold C. Hoffman, secretary and treasurer of the central division of the HBPA, announced that the election of a vice-president for the organization would be held Tuesday, June 12, in the racing secretarys offices of Washington Park, Ak-Sar-Ben, and Fairmount Park, between the hours of 9:00 a. m. and 5:00 p. m. Nominees for the vice-presidency are Larry H. Thompson, Al Gaal "and Joseph Kohout. At the same time committeemen for the forthcoming year will be elected. Candidates for the various committees include William Hal Bishop, Thompson, Paul L. Kelley, Frank Nugent, Clyde Troutt; S. Bryant Ott, J. P. Keezek, Howard Wells, Pwight Penham, Harold O. Simmons, Bennett Creech, Harold Bockman, George Stutts, William A. Mikel, Jake Lowenstein, Arthur E. Mettz, John Oglesby, John F. Beck, Lyle* Pilger, Robert Cameron, Henry Tikulski and Steve Valenti. Absentee members who wish to vote may do so by proxy. According to Hoffman, any member having horses registered at the track where the election will be held, is eligible to vote. Should the member wish to cast his ballot by proxy he is required to obtain a notarized statement giving authorization to an agent to vote for him. Proxy ballots may be obtained at the racing secretarys office. Hoffman also announced that the organization recently received a check in the amount of 27.00, representing the 1 per cent deduction from members who won races at the Keeneland race course. In addition, Hoffman was the recipient of checks totaling ,052.80 and ,000 from Churchill Downs, Inc. The former figure represented the usual 1 per cent reduction from purses, whereas the ,000 was donated, to £he organization by the Perby course.
