This was revealed yesterday by Arlington-Washington racing secretary Frank E. Kilroe, who reported final payments fi* 39 of Americas top-level fillies and mares, keeping them eligible for the brightest jewel in the 1951 filly-mare crown. Final payments also have been made for 215 two-year -rolds in the Arlington Park Futurity; 220 for the Washington Park counterpart; 147 for the Arlington Lassie, and 155 f qr the Washington Park Princess Pat Stakes. The latter two, expected to gross around 0,000 each, are the richest in the world for two-year-old fillies. All eligibility figures are up over 1950 by 7-to-15 per cent. Among the 39 Matron candidates are five queens of the distaff division who place the race into a "Champion of Champions" category. They are Calumets Wistful and Two Lea, co-three-year-old filly champion of 1949, and Bewitch, voted best of her sex in 1949; Alfred G. Vanderbilts Next Move, three-year-old filly champion of 1950, and Duval Headleys Aunt Jinny, named the best juvenile filly last year. Wistful and Aunt Jinny already are on , , the Arlington grounds, prepping for opening day, June 18, along with Clarence Hartwicks much-traveled three-year-old, Sickles Image. Herman Delmans How, who tied Aunt Jinny as top-weight filly in the 1951 Experimental Handicap and who won the Coaching Club American Oaks Saturday, is another sophomore eligible for the big prize, along with Hal Price Headleys Lithe, winner of the last two Matron renewals, and the 1951 Columbiana Handicap winner, Miss Highbrow. Up from the ranks of 1950s leading two-year-old fillies is Sunningdale Farms Shawnee Squaw, which captured the coveted 1950 Arlington Lassie. Shawnee Squaw launched her 1951 campaign in the Anita Peabody Purse on Tuesdays Lincoln Fields card and showed a sparkling front-running performance, never being under a drive at any stage of the six-furlong journey which she covered in 1:11%. The best of this group may have an opportunity to take down the worlds richest purse for mares and fillies on Matron Day. The previous record purse was awarded at Belmont Park in 1949 when B. F. Whi-takers Miss Request carried home 3,600 after winnnig the Beldame Handicap. Gross value of the Beldame was 2,200 in the peak year, but the Matron has already soared to well over 0,000, and starting fees of 50 per runner are yet to come. Calumet Has Nine in Futurities The Futurities for two-year-olds of both sexes, have drawn representatives of the finest breeding in the world. Calumet Farm has kept nine eligible for both races. Included in the Calumet group is the contest-named Unbelievable, a full brother to Brookmeade, the leading money-winning stable of 1950, is represented by three nominees in the Arlington Futurity, four in the Washington Park Futurity. „ King Ranch* is in with three in each event, and Greentree Stable has five in both races. Others strong in numbers include R. W. Mcllvain, with eight in the Arlington Futurity and nine in the Washington Park Futurity; plus eligibles from the stables of Mrs. Emil Denemark, Mrs. Elizabeth N. Graham Maine Chance Farm, Freeman Keyes and Hal Price Headley. William Goetz, the movie - executive owner of the fabulous Your Host during his brief but magnificent career, has nominated a two-year-old full sister to Your Host, named Your Hostess, for the Princess Pat. Meanwhile, Kilroes final payment list on the Arlington Classic and American jDerby indicated that the three-year-old jigsaw puzzle may be solved here this sum- mer. Roughn Tumble, Uncle Miltie Named Among the 75 eligibles still in the running for the Classic July 21 and the record 84 in the Washington Park counterpart, August 18, are the Kentucky Derby winner, Count Turf; Bold, Preakness victor, and virtually every major three-year-old in training today. However, theyll all have to whip two sophomores who finally are expected to be sound for the Chicago features — Roughn Tumble arid Uncle Miltie. Neither was ready for the first two legs of the "Triple Crown," but racing secretary Kilroes future book indicated both will be on hand for the 1951 three-year-old showdown here. In addition to Roughn Tumble and Uncle Miltie, another slow-starting sopho- • more wil be heard from in the Classic and Derby. He is George D. Wideners Battlefield, champion two-year-old of 1950. His only stakes win this season was a head victory in the Withers Mile. Roughn Tumble, the Free For All colt owned by Mrs. Frances A. Genter, already is at Arlington, first of the top-level thoroughbreds to start training for portions of Arlington-Washingtons ,500,000 instakes and purses.
