The latter was prominent throughout and turned in a good effort. MLLE. ELL had no excuse in a creditable performance. SILK QUEST faltered slightly in the late stages. HADASSAH lacked a closing rally. DRAKENSBERG broke slowest, went through on the rail all the way while improving position and drew clear after disposing of the leaders. WATCH UNION vied for command from the outset, took a clear lead in the stretch, but was not good enough, KIDDED lacked speed, then closed strongly on the outside. CHEERMEUP had no excuse. CAMPAIGNER was forced to, lose ground while dueling for command and tired. OTHELLO failed to seriously threaten. PENNANT DAY was hard hustled to reach a clear lead and tired in the final quarter mile. IRISH KNIGHT came out of the race lame. Overweight— Kidded, 3 pounds. The latter was a sharp factor throughout and tired in the late stages. HALLEY had no mishap. WHATSINIT made a mild bid under pressure and tired. MARLIN gave way after making the early pace. IRISH CLOWN was outrun. SALAISE quit. COUNT TURF dropped far back under light restraint along the backstretch, swung to the middle of the track entering the stretch to avoid BOLD and wore down COMBAT BOOTS in the final strides. The latter, rated on the backstretch, was hustled along nearing the turn and, sent through on the rail to engage BOLD, gradually widened his advantage under light punishment in" the stretch, was hard put for the final sixteenth mile and just failed. The latter broke in a tangle, moved up on the outside and could not be hard punished through the drive while bearing in badly. MOSSY FACE had no excuse in a good effort. RINALDO went through on the rail to obtain command briefly and faltered. TUMBLER lacked a rally. STRUTIN showed little. Overweight— Scotch Wine, 1 pound; Strutin, 2. Scotch Wine claimed by M. S.
