Proximity Retired GOSHEN, N. Y., June 5.— The greatest money-winning trot horse in history, Proximity, who went lame last year and hasnt been training well, will be retired to Don-erail, Ky., to join the broodmare ranks, her owner, Ralph Verhurst, of Victor, said today. The nine-year-old mare, holder of nine world records and 10 track marks, earned 52,929.67 during her racing career. She earned only 3,000 as a three-year-old, which brought disappointment to Verhurst, he revealed. He had all but given up that Proximity "would amount to anything at all."
