SMART EDDIE disposed of MISS NAP midway the final furlong and in a long drive held CHALLEPORT safe. The latter responded gamely when called upon for the stretch run and gradually was wearing down the leader. MISS NAP made the pace to the stretch, then weakened. TRUMPETER came between horses for the final test, but was not good enough. DEVILISH LAD tired under punishment BETHS BOMB failed to stay. MARY GRACE saved ground to no avail. NORTH SHORE quit. MR. McGREGOR was never a threat. FIVE A. M. stopped badly. Scratched— 30007 Spring Gal, 109; 29782 Black Cat, 107. Overweight— Challeport, 1 pound. Attendance, 8,625; Total Mutuel Pool, 74,417
