.Cardinals Trim Brooklyn On Staleys Five Hitter * BROOKLYN, N. Y., May 14 UP.— Gerry Staley, who failed .to score a victory over the Dodgers all last season, beat them for the second straight time when he pitched, the Cardinals to a six-hit, 5 to 1 win today. The tricky righthander missed a shutout when Andy Pafko hit his eighth home run of the season in the fifth inning. Chris Van Cuyk gave up only five hits for the Dodgers before he went out for a pinchhitter in the eighth inning but the Cardinals collected two of them for their first two runs in the second inning. Solly Hemus tagged him for a two-run homer over the right field screen in the seventh. Hemus also drove in the fifth Cardinal run with a triple off Ralph Branca in the ninth after Staley walked.
