I RALPH AYOU— Drives Ace Deuce in* I tonights eighth race at Maywood Park. Six Illinois Pacers Vie In B-Class Event Tonight. Ace Deuce, Spud Worthy and Jerry Mason in Maywood Test MAYWOOD PARK, Maywood, HI., May 14— Six Illinois-owned or -bred pacers,. Which boast 10 victories for the meeting among them, will clash tomorrow night as Maywood Park enters the second month of its harness racing season. The six will go the mile in the 00 eighth race, a B-class pace. v Topping the field is Ace Deuce, owned by Dr. J. B. Moore, of Benton, 111. Known among Maywood horsemen as "or consistent," Ace Deuce has won twice and finished in the money in nine of 15 efforts after getting an early start on the season at Santa Anita. The five-year-old favorite will start from the pole position with Ralph Ayou driving. Two other double winners for. the meeting, Spud Worthy and Jerry Mason, will be out to settle a private difference in the event. This pair wound up in a dead heat for place behind Caramac in their last appearance. Jerry Mason, in a slight slump after winning its first two trips of the year, rates as overnight second choice to Ace Deuce. Bob Wagner, of Springfield, III., will try to stretch his lead in the Maywood drivers scramble behind Fox DeLuxe, owned by Bobs father, E. F. Wagner. Fox DeLuxe also will be looking for its third win. Completing the field are Winding Brook, owned by Mrs. Virginia Henson, of Chicago, and Cedric B. Grattan, owned by Arthur Norberg, of Princeton, 111. Each has turned in one winning performance thus far, and neither has failed to finish in the money. Cedric B. holds the Maywood half-mile record at 1:00%, and its only victory was at six furlongs. Winding Brook earned a second to Miss Shine-A-Mite in a 2:06% mile its last time out. Mel Harmenings Larry Dee and Red Scotts Signal Bravo both will be gunning for their third victory in the divided event of the evening, an ,800 BB-class trot. Theyll travel the mile in the sixth and ninth races against Mr. Spud, Pay Up, Lucky Lee Prince, Billy Corbitt, Maiden Song and Farcry. Pay Up, still looking for that first triumph, will start from the No. 2 slot under Dee Stovers guidance and will open as a 2 to 1 favorite.
