Deadline at Hand for Trio Of Lincoln Fields Stakes Fleming and Steger Close Today And Peabody Memorial Tomorrow HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 14.— With the interest of Chicago racing enthusiasts sharply focused on the forthcoming Joliet Stakes at Hawthorne next Saturday, racing secretary Larry Bogenschutz called horsemens attention to tomorrows deadline for making nominations for the Edward J. Fleming Memorial Handicap to be run on May 24. Bogenschutz also reminded horsemen that Friday is the final day for making subscriptions to the Pea-body Memorial on Memorial Day. The Pea-body, which brings a mid-meeting climax on May 30, is expected to attract some of the nations leading three-year-olds to run for the 5,000 added event at one and one-eighth miles. The Fleming Handicap is for three-year-olds and upward at six and one-half furlongs. Also closing tomorrow is the Steger Handicap, which will be the secon-day attraction to the Joliet Stakes next Saturday. _pne of the bright prospects for the Joliet is the bay colt Prince Marque, whose owner, Mrs. H. G. Bockman, will also be strongly represented in the Peabody by Happy Go Lucky. Prince Marque has yet to win, but he was a second to Ace Destroyer in one division of the Bashford Manor Stakes at Louisville Saturday. In third place behind him that day was Happy Carrier, winner of one division of the Lafayette Stakes *at Keeneland, who is also a highly regarded prospect for the Joliet. Prince Marque is by Haltal, sire of Happy Go Lucky. The younger colt is out of Marquecade, by Blenheim II. He was purchased in the yearling sales at Keeneland last year for ,300 out of the consignment of Royce C. Martins Woodvale Farm, who also bred Happy Go Lucky and consigned him to the 1950 yearling sales. Bockman paid ,000 for Happy Go Lucky. The former Aurora, HI., jeweler, who now trains his wifes horses, has ample reason to be partial to the get of the Woodvale stallidh, Haltal.
