Closely Contested Election for Jersey HBPA Committeemen GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 14.-— At the regular annual election-of the New Jersey divison of the HBPA, John Machise was unopposed in his reelection as vice-president for the coming year. In one of the hottest contested elections for committeemen in local history — only 20 votes separating the high from the low man — the following committeemen were elected: A. F. East, George Howell, A. J. Cochran, E. B. Stewart, Paul L. Kelley, E. W. King, Charles Gribbin, Joe Holsey, Joseph Carroll and W. S. Cotton. John Lee was appointed as an alternate committee- man. The election was climaxed by a dinner in the clubhouse, attended by 200 members and guests. Short talks were made by Eugene Mori, Walter Donovan and Dr. Leon Levy. At a meeting by the newly elected committee early this morning, William E. Charles, Jr., was unanimously appointed for his seventh consecutive year to the post of secretary and treasurer.
