f Illinois Notes 1 HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 14. Edward Champagne, his wife and son, Chris, departed for Omaha, where the ex-football star will join the official staff at Ak-Sar-Beh. During their brief stay in the Windy City the Champagnes were the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Cox. Following the termination of the Omaha session in July, Champagne and his family will motor to Calgary, Canada, where he is a member of the coaching staff for that Canadian League eleven. Dave Hum, acting for the Red Top Farm, sold the two-year-old filly, Tune Time, to B. H. Wise. The new acquisition and other members of the Wise unit will be sent to Michigan in the immediate future. Clifford C. Ware, owner of several thoroughbreds quartered here under the supervision of K. D. Kepler, returned to his home at Dighton, Kan. Ware will return to this | sector later in the meeting. [ John S. Letellier, president of the Fair ! Grounds course in New Orleans, was in attendance for yesterdays program. Letellier combined business with pleasure to witness the afternoon of sport. Contemplated plans were for him to return to the Crescent City tomorrow. Owner and trainer John McShane checked in from Louisville with four horses and was granted stabling accommodations at Washington Park. The unit was headed by the good sprinter, Steak Bone. Martin "Duke" Penter, superintendent of stalls at Arlington and Washington Parks, l distributed to interested local horsemen I stall application blanks for those forth-p coming meetings. Several thoroughbreds are already quartered at the two tracks. The two-year-old Fiddle, owned by Mrs. E. E. Dale Shaffer, arrived from Louisville to fulfill his engagement in the 0,000 Joliet Stakes. Fiddle will be transferred to Detroit at a later date. O. S. Deming, thoroughbred owner from Cynthiana, Ky., arrived and will remain to witness his two-year-old, Thaxter, perform in the Joliet Stakes Saturday. J. P. Keezek is trainer of the Deming unit. Dave Erb, journeyman rider, came in from the West Coast and registered his tack with the custodian of the local riders jpolony. He will ride free lance. In a private transaction Mrs. Velma E. Patridge purchased Sis Egan from J. P. Hollingsworth. Dave Sazer will continue to condition the Patridge acquisition for future engagements.
