I ► — - Announce Walcott-Charles Telecast; Philly Area Dark PHILADELPHIA, Pa., May 21 UP. — The worlds heavyweight title bout between champion Joe Walcott and Ezzard Charles here June 5 will be televised on a nationwide scale, except for a blackout of the Philadelphia erea, promoter Herman Taylor announced today. Taylor said the National Broadcasting Co. and the Gillette Razor Co. had agreed to carry a telecast of the return 15-round bout. They paid 75,000 for j the rights. Taylor said that the local NBC television outlet, station WPTZ, would be. blacked out. This means that an area of about 90 miles around Philadelphia would not be able to see the telecast. The screening will be to New York and other sections of the country. Although there was no specific announcement to that effect, it was assumed each fighter would receive 30 per cent of the television package. The question of whether the bout between Charles and Walcott would be televised hung in the balance the past three days as their managers squabbled over their cuts. | The deal was closed over the telephone "by Taylor and representatives of the NBC and the Gillette Co. after they had received the consent of Felix Bocchicchio, Walcotts manager, who had been believed holding out. ,
