War King, General Staff Vie in Limit Field Named for Garden State Top Race Former Is Coming Off Good * Effort, While MacPhail Colt Will Be Making Seasonal Bow By WILLIAM C. PHILLIPS Staff Correspondent GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 21. — The Famous Fashions Purse, a six furlongs dash, attracted a field of 12 and two "also eligibles" as the feature attraction on tomorrows program which is notable for having capacity fields in all but one of the eight races. Clearing weather is predicted, but the racing strip is expected to be no better than "good." Brookmeade "Stables War King is the probable publics choice in a tight fit. Larry S. MacPhails General Staff, who was consistently close up, although unable to win in several stake events last year, will make his seasons debut in here. He will receive plenty of attention in the wagering department, but the field is ripe with possibilities. War King gained local stature by finishing second to Repetoire in a sprint here last week, although some of the glory was taken away when Repetoire returned to be ignominously defeated over a muddy track yesterday. Jockey Jimmy Stout will handle War King, who should have enough speed to come away from his inside post position and join the first flight without difficulty. P. S. Goodwins Sea Fan, a particularly fleet .filly when she does not have a tantrum of nervous fits, is the only recent winner in the band. She will be ridden by Larry Hansman, who last week got her home in front of K. G. Marshalls Coffee Money, Jay Cee Farms Bold Jo, G. S. Millers Ginger Boots and Joe Gavegnanos Blue Lantern, all of whom will be attempting to reverse the decision tomorrow. Coffee Money, who was a bang-up second, seems to have a good chance as that was his first outing of the year with improvement likely. Mrs. C. A. Lyons Penocc is a strong representative from the Maryland scene. The four-year-old Occupy gelding shipped in here from two starts at Pimlico, where he finished second to sharp company in both. C. W. Malones Tamale comes down from New York where he was unsuccessful in a busy campaign, but also racing against shifty opposition. Mrs. H. S. Clarks Puppet, who made her bow of the season at Pimlico recently, seems ready for improvement, while H. H. Polks Rocky Heights is a steady-going performer and the stal/e entry of J. Gavegnanos Blue Lantern and J. J. McCarthys Ginger Boots provides a double-threat worth some regard. R. W. Finchers stakes winning mare, Danger Ahead, will also be a factor if able to break in from the "also eligibles." t
