Twilight Purse Features Todays Omaha Racing Seven Sprinters Match Strides; First Post Time is 3:30 P. M. By J. SWEENEY GRANT Staff Correspondent AK-SAR-BEN, Omaha, Nebr., May 21.— The appropriately named Twilight Purse headlines tomorrows program at this Omaha course. Post time for the first event will be 3:30 p.m. Late afternoon racing has proven popular in this sector during the past several years and, as has been the custom during the last several meetings, each Thursday throughout the current session will be designated as "Twilight Day." Racing secretary Linus Pierce drafted a capable group of seven better-than-average sprinters to contest the nominal attraction, which should prove interesting from a wagering standpoint. The candidates appear evenly matched and the six-furlong dash should result in a close race from start to finish. The platers named to vie in the essay are" Delia Shrivers Miss English, A. C. Sipes Trarab, Wilbur Browns So True, the Verde Stock Farms Hen Sprig, J. W. Coopers Undone, E. M. OBriens Outbird, and Louis Marchios Perfect Sweep. Trarab performed with fair success during the Oaklawn Park meeting and appears to have the necessary ability to turn back his rivals in tomorrows issue. The five-year-old gelded son of Doublrab won three races last year in a "rather ambitious campaign. He will be ridden by Sonny Ray Williams. Hen Sprig also raced at the Spa and was second on two occasions to foes similar to the ones she will meet in the Twilight. So True has shown a decided fondness for the local strip in previous years and has been working cleverly for her initial start of the Ak-Sar-Ben season. The five-year-old mare accounted for two victories in six trips postward last year. Perfect Sweep was able to register only two sue-. cesses in 1951, but from all indications he has returned to winning form. -In morning workouts the Marchio racer has done all that was expected of him. Outbird, well-bred son of Shut Out and Bird Hawk, has benefitted from a recent rest and most likely is ready to come forth with his best effort. The four-year-old gelding will have the saddle services of j jockey George Martin. Undone was not too I impressive during the previous years campaign, but must merit consideration. Miss English is favorably weighted and could prove troublesome.
