Eight Crack Speedsters in Evergold Hasty House Farm Has Pair Entered Inseparable and Ruhe Carry Ohioans Silks; Stop Gap and Sun David Seek Lincoln Dash By J. J. MURPHY HAWTHORNE, Cicero, HI., May 21.— Eight of the best sprinters now quartered at this course will meet in the six-furlong Evergold Purse, which will be the feature event on tomorrows race bill. The race is named in honor of the memory of the big golden chestnut who carried the colors of the late Dick and Pat Nash to numerous victories two decades ago while trained by the late John J. Greeley. Five of the eight horses entered for the Evergold Purse are nominees for the six and one-half furlongs Edward J. Fleming Memorial Handicap, which 0,000 fixture comes up for renewal here next Saturday. These include Hasty House Farms Inseparable and Ruhe, the latter making his first start for his new owners, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Reuben, since being purchased a short tome ago. Each will carry 108 pounds, with jockey Kenneth Church slated to ride Ruhe. The other Fleming nominees named for the Evergold are Red Top Farms Stop Gap, highweight of the field with 120 pounds and jockey Jack Chestnut aboard, Sam E. Wilson, Jr.s Air Mail, with Steve Brooks up, and J. S. Bradleys Sun David, E. J. Knapp in the saddle. Completing ihe Evergold field are Idle Stables Stubur, Mrs. T. M. Pruetts Market Tip, and Endovina and Kontos former Arkansas Derby winner, Cacomo, who will have the services of the currently sensational Johnny Adams, Has Started Four Times This Year Ruhe has started four times this year, finishing second on three occasions, the latest having beenin the Ben Ali Handicap at Keeneland, won by Hasty House Farms Seaward on April 19. Ruhe had a long string of stake placings last year after winning the Arkansas Derby. He was awarded first money in one division of the Blue Grass Stakes through the disqualification of King Ranchs Sonic. Thereafter, Ruhe obtained a part of each of nine stakes. He won four races during the year and earned 1,575. In eight starts this year Inseparable has shared in six purses but has not yet won a race this season." He finished fourth to False in the Crete Handicap on opening day at this meeting. Cacomo was unplaced in the Crete, his only start of the current year. Sun David, likewise, has started only once in 1952, finishing unplaced behind Mon-Pharo at Louisville on Derby Day. He finished first in the Peabody Memorial two years ago, but was disqualified and placed second. Stop Gap was also unplaced in the Crete in his only start here, but he won once in three starts at Santa Anita during the winter. Air Mail has been the busiest member of the Evergold field this season, starting 13 times, to win one and place on seven occasions. He came here from Louisville via Pimlico, where he finished third to Milldale last Saturday, Preakness Day. Nine two-year-old fillies, potential candidates for the Miss America Stakes on June 7, were entered for the Helens Babe Purse, supporting feature on tomorrows t card. They include Mrs. H. J. Damms Arab Actress, Mrs. T. M. Pruetts Vezlark and i Shady Brook Farms Actuate, all winners in their brief careers. The others are Mrs. ; L. L. Birrs Belle Revoke, F. L. Flanders : Burma Girl, Mrs. Elizabeth Mucklers Gre-cia, Lucas B. Combs Eilley Orrum, Locust Lawn Farms Dear. Pat, and S. A. Alexanders Sweet Cream.
