ABBYS RHYMER assumed command at once, was well rated while establishing the pace, lost the lead momentarily in the late stages, then came again to dead-heat with NORTH CLARK. The latter forced the pace from the start, moved willingly when sent up on the outside, gained command, but was unable to draw clear. HIGHEST STAR moved threateningly on the final turn, then hung. TUNED UP dropped off the pace early, rallied when put to a drive and closed ground along the inside. COMEALLYE dropped back along the inside nearing the far turn, recovered stride when put to pressure and closed on the outside. OCEAN PLAY flattened out when put to a drive. HIGH HUNCH had no mishap. FLASH OF LIGHT was through early. WAR BLUES was outrun. The latter forced the pace, gained a slight advantage entering the lane and held on gamely. TOP HONORS disposed of the early leader before a half mile, drew clear* saved ground on the turn into the stretch, then weakened. WARRENS GRAY assumed the lead soon after the start, saved ground on the turns, responded willingly and held on stubbornly. CLOUDY was best of the others. BEAUTIFUL JANE caught tiring horses. OFF AT 4:181 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. BEAMING LIGHT broke alertly, was allowed to settle into best stride down the backstretch, moved around the field when ready, assumed command and maintained advantage under steady urging. CROSS WISE, forwardly placed along the inside, swung wide in the stretch and was unable to reach the leaders. ATOM RIDE finished stoutly along the inside. SPUDDER raced MY RUTHIE into submission, shortened stride after five furlongs and was tiring. MY RUTHIE broke alertly, went along with the pace to the turn, then weakened. PADDY LANE had no mishap. BEDA BULL lacked early speed. MAD AGAIN was never prominent. FENELOW was unable to keep up. PRINCESS HOPE was outrun. NOLA HASH broke alertly, was kept close to the pace for a half mile; assumed command on the outside and continued on gamely to hold PACIFIC BOUND safe. The latter, away slowly from the barrier, worked his way up between horses, saved ground into the stretch, but was unable to reach the winner. LUNATION, a forward factor, responded to pressure, but was unable to menace. WOLFCAMP drew clear after the start, established the pace for a half mile, then weakened.
