Frank Podesta Appointed Trainer of Chambers Unit NEW ORLEANS, La., June 6. — J. A. Chambers, capitalist and racing enthusiast of Memphis, notified executive vice-president Anthony Pelleteri of the Pair Grounds today that he had signed Frank Podesta of Memphis as his trainer and was sending Podesta to South America this week-end to see about purchasing some Chilean and Argentine thoroughbreds. Podesta formerly managed the Valdina Farm of the late Emerson Woodward of Houston, Texas and recently has been buying for various turfmen. Chambers said he expected to have a large string of useful racers to campaign at the Fair Grounds this winter and asked for permission to ship in here September 1. He has his entire stable now quartered at Memphis resting up and does not expect to do any racing until the Fair Grounds winter meeting. Included in the Chambers string at present are Botafogo, Yadran and Mister Morgan, all South American importations.
