Hard Toab# Market Tip In Mound City Handicap Pair Clash Again at Fairmount Under New Weight Allotments By C. A. UNDEMAN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 6.— Eight of the better class routers have been named for the Mound City Handicap, main attraction for tomorrow nights nine-race program. This event, which is to be contested at a mile and one-sixteenth, appears the best matched field thus far at; the meeting. Of the field of eight, in which there will be an entry of Market Tip and Ida C, there are four that have already made one visit to the winners circle here. Market Tip and Ida C. race coupled as the Mrs. T. Pruett entry. Racing secretary J. J. Klucina has seen fit to place top weight of 118 pounds aboard the E. Chudej distance performer, Hard Toab, a winner in his first outing here in a six-furlong dash. Hard Toab didnt fare so well in his last appearance at this meeting • when he was second, beaten three lengths by Market Tip. That defeat came during the running of the Decoration Day Handicap at a mile and a sixteenth. Hard Toab carried a heavy impost of 120 pounds as against Market Tips 110. With 118 up in this test and Market Tip picking up five pounds, this race should be one of the most spirited contests so far at the meeting. Market Tip will run coupled with Ida C, a five-year-old daughter of Ladysmah who was far back in a six-furlong dash here last Wednesday night. Market Tip scored an impressive victory in the Memorial Day feature, but having to pick up an additional five pounds he will really have to give his best to down Hard Toab. With him carrying 115 and the Chudej route runner in with 118, it appears as though they are as evenly matched in weight as is possible. Next in line is the hard knocking Ruth-red, from the stable of Mrs. E. Muckler, who will shoulder 113 pounds for this test in the Mound City. Ruthred has started only once at this meeting and that was in a route affair of one and one-sixteenth miles. Although she did not make a very impressive showing in that defeat when she finished far back of Market Tip and Hard Toab, her races prior to coming here were of a much higher type. Ruthred has speed and can give a good account of herself at the longer routes once she finds herself. Another who will be making a real race of the Mound City will be Card Sharp, a recent winner here at a mile and a sixteenth, winning by three and one-half lengths over.Milo and Boston Bull. Card Sharp finished third in his. last race here when he was beaten off seven lengths in back of Market Tip and Hard Toab. „
