HE4JTEL was never far from the early pace and, .gaining on the outside of the leaders after entering the stretch, took command to win drawing out under mild urging. DE LISO was fractious before the start, but broke in front and retained a forward position to the stretch, then took a short lead but was unable to hold the winner. PARTICIPATION was never far away and saved ground in the stretch, but was not good enough. NOT THE END had the most early speed, but tired. OBTAIN failed to be a contender. WOOD H was saved close up in the early running, moved up to the leaders nearing the stretch turn and, heading the field when straightened out for home, drew away gradually thereafter. SHINING DEED was outrun to the stretch, then came strongly under hard handling to best the others. MISS DEDUCTIVE had good early speed, but weakened in the last eighth FAIR PORTER also tired. UTOPIA LASS made up ground in the stretch and was going very fast at the end. GOLD NECKLACE also finished well. PETES BEST followed MIGHTY TEXAN closed for six furlongs, then went to the front to hold BEST ARRAY and just lasted. BEST ARRAY trailed early, raced while while making he rmove and went to the middle of the track on the stretch turn, but closed resolutely and would have won in a few more strides. FERRY PILOT was in rather tight next to the rail around the far turn, but came well when clear. RETAS BOY was forced to take up at midstretch-when unable to final an opening and might have been dangerous with better racing luck. COCKOFTHEWALK sprinted to the front on the inside soon after the start and saved ground all the way, but was no match for the winner. LEGATEE went to the front early and, well rated while making the pace, saved ground where possible and held BLEN SAND all through the last eighth. BLEN SAND was always close to the pace and appeared to be bothered a trifle when LEGATEE bore out slightly after entering the last furlong, but went well to the end. JACKTOWN went well and held third position safe most of the way. SWEET SEELEY and ISLE SEA made up some ground. JUDY moved up nearing the stretch turn, then went very wide and tired. ROBUST was in rather close quarters around the far turn, but moved up steadily when clear and, although showing a tendency to lug in during the stretch run, wore down FAMOUS SHAKE to get up to win in the closing strides. FAMOUS SHAKE went to the front at once, saved ground while making the pace and held on well in the final drive. SWANEES PENNY was outrun early, but was going strongly on the inside at the end. SIGNAL CODE was badly outrun to the stretch, then came steadily. LUCKY CODINE raced wide in the stretch and weakened after making a mild move. FLEETERTHAN tired in the stretch. PENAWAY raced in the middle of the pack down the backstretch, then improved his position nearing the stretch turn and, catching CLABBERING JIM entering the last furlong, had enough left to hold CHOW CHOW; The latter dwelt at the start and trailed the field by a good margin down the backstretch, but came fast nearing the stretch turn and, although racing down the middle of the track in the stretch, was gaining. CLABBERINGJIM took a good lead on the backstretch but faltered in the final drive. BULLISH also weakened. NEW HOPE was in close quarters, early and was never dangerous. YARDTOWN, SKYOLATER and S. DIME was taken back early and was outrun down the backstretch, then moved strongly around the stretch turn to take command an eighth out and pulled away slowly thereafter. FAST SLAVE, well up from the start, made a good bid for the leadership on the stretch turn, was then forced a trifle wide, but went well to the end. MR. BRIAR saved ground around the stretch turn to get to the front and also held on fairly well. RICHAVOO was in rather close quarters on the backstretch and again in the stretch, but was fighting for second place at the end. TRICKY MAUD had speed to the stretch.
