WILLIAM HELIS, JR.--Owner of Spartan Valor. Spartan Valor to Arrive At Arlington on Tuesday HandicapChampion and 20 Mates To See Action at 36-Day Meeting Spartan Valor,- the nations top-ranking thoroughbred and winner of six successive stakes, will arrive Tuesday at Arlington Park with 20 stablemates, owner William G. Helis, Jr. announced yesterday. The young master of the famed eastern racing stable informed track officials that his string would remain in training here for the entire Arlington meeting, which gets under way June 16. Helis, in his second year as owner of the stable, already has shown signs of following in the footsteps of his late father, who introduced the fabled white cross on blue colors to thoroughbred racing in 1943. Led by Spartan Valors victories in the Hialeah Inaugural, McLennan, Widener, Excelsior, Gallant*Fox Handicap and Val-leg Forge, Helis thoroughbreds have won 14,675 this year, high among the leading money-winning stables Although Spartan Valors two major appearances will be in the 60,000 Arlington Handicap on July 26 and the 70,000 Washington Park Handicap on September 1, Helis also has named the four-year-old son of Attention to a dramatic Arlington Park debut oh June 28. On that day Spartan Valor will be aiming at first money in the 0,000 added Equipoise Mile, named after the immortal "Chocolate Soldier." Equipoise, being the sire of Attention, is Spartan Valors grand-daddy. Also in the Helis outfit arriving next week, which trainer Frank Catrone will lead to the northwest suburban plant, will be the Hejis three-year-old hope, Topside, recently third in the Jersey Stakes at Garden State Park.
