Bucky Walters Named Pilot Of Milwaukee Brewers Club LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 6 UP.— Bucky Walters, former pitcher and manager of the Cincinnati Reds, today was named manager of the Milwaukee Brewers of the American Association. Walters succeeds Charley Grimm, who a few days ago was promoted to the managership of the Boston Braves, parent club of the Brewers. Walters, who started his big league career as a third baseman with the Philadelphia Phillies, later helped pitch the Cincinnati Reds to two National League pennants. This season he has been serving as a coach with the Braves. The Brewers currently hold first place in the American, Association by a margin of two and a half games. Walters became manager of the Cincinnati. Reds in August, 1948, but was fired a i year later when the club failed to win. The 42-year-old Walters was named a pitching coach for the Braves in December, 1949, and has been there ever since. He will join the Brewers here tomorrow.
