5 Royals Last Goes After Another Win Victor In Three Straight at K Ak-Sar-Ben Vies With Six ~„ Governors Handicap. Rivals £ By T. SWEENEY GRANT Staff Correspondent ~» AK-SAR-BEN, Omaha, Nebr., June 6.— -T Alice Likens Foyals Last, who has com- pletely dominated the sprint division of the § local handicap colony, will be seeking his 3 fourth straight success of the season in to- H morrows renewal of the ,000 Ak-Sar-Ben Governors Handicap. The four-year-old gelded progeny of Black Jacket and Reno 5 Sis has been accorded top weight of 115 a* pounds as a result of his previous perf orm-2 ances over the Omaha strip. His six op-r ponents include Marion H. VanBergs Countess In and J. W. Coopers Undone, — both of whom have been assigned the equal asessments of 112; S. S. Barretts Auntie, 2 110; A. C. Sipes* Charing Light, 110; F. W. Bourcks Curtain Raiser, 109, and Mrs. _! Paul Wyermans Here Me, 108. Royals Last has scored consecutive vic-Q tories in the Whirlaway, Ak-Sar-Ben Princess and Inaugural Handicaps. One of his triumphs was registered over a muddy strip, whereas the remaining wins came over a fast strip. From all indications the Likens racer is impartial to track conditions and he is expected to keep his victory skein intact, come what may. With the exception of Countess In and Curtain Raiser, the rest of the entrants have been the victims of Royals Last, in one or more of his winning encounters. After scoring an impressive win in the first division of the Inaugural, in which he was comparatively overlooked in the wagering, Royals Last in each of his later victories continued, to reward his doubtful backers in excess of six and one-hal to one. Perhaps his latest score has convinced the dubious Omaha patrons that he is better than generally rated. Notwithstanding a four-pound increase in weight over his previous outing, he most likely will be accorded the role of favorite in tomorrows issue. Recent Arrivals From Chicago Countess In, recently arrived with her stablemate, French Admiral, from Chicago, where she scored one victory in a limited campaign. The win was attained at the half-mile Sportsmans Park oval, and at the expense of the better handicap performers then in the Windy City sector; It may be that the VanBerg miss will not like the firm footing of the local strip, but if she should, she will, be a definite factor. Countess In perhaps has a bit more, class than her competitors and under the modest assessment of 112 pounds most likely will make her presence felt, should she choose to come forth with her best effort. Auntie, who previously had matched strides against such formidable eastern stars as Bed o Roses, has been unsuccessful in quest for a victory here. She has been close up on occasion, but through poor racing luck and other factors has not been able to reach the coveted circle. She finished second to Royals Last in the Whirlaway Handicap and third to the same horse in the Ak-Sar-Ben Princess. In the notwithstanding her earlier defeat. It is pos-chief supporting attraction to the handi-sible that -she will be able to reverse the decision over Royals Last with the four-pound weight shift in her favor. Undone, winner of one race at the meeting, found the prevailing muddy strip the afternoon of the Princess Handicap to his liking and was beaten a short neck by Royals Last. The Cooper charge required an "off" track for his best race. Any other than a fast strip appears unlikely. Charing Light was second to Royals Last in the Inaugural then was unplaced in the Princess. Charing Light possesses high early speed and. may forget to stop if property rated. Curtain Raiser set a fast early pace before bowing to Ill Be in an allowance race here earlier in the session in which the winner establisted a new track record of :58 flat for the five-panel distance. Curtain Raiser perhaps was .a trifle short in that start, which may have proved to be the necessary tightener. Curtain Raiser must be regarded dangerous. Here Me, one of two thoroughbreds recently purchased by Mrs. Wyerman from the Kentucky sportsman, Hal Price Headley, made his local debut in the Whirlaway in which he finished sixth beaten approximately 11 lengths by the winner. The Gallant Fox Purse will serve as the 1 cheif supporting attraction to the handicap. Mio Ace and Black Battle, both of whom have scored smashing victories here, head the field. Their opponents comprise Blunt, Reno Upabout, Starting Time, and Three Flights.
