Robust Gets Up to Score by Neck Gives Hasty House Star Reward Purse Famous Shake Sets Pace at Hawthorne From Start, but Surrenders Lead Near Wire HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., June 6.— Hasty House Farm added another victory to its list when their four-year-old Robust won the featured Star Reward claiming race here today. The winner, with jockey Ken Church in the irons, got up in time to beat Famous Shake in a driving finish, with Swanees Penny taking third money. Robust was the favorite and paid .20. He was the third public choice to be triumphant during the afternoon. The distance was six furlongs and the winners time 1:11%. Robust, who was a fleet colt as a two-year-old and holds a track record at Churchill Downs, was making his fourth start o f the year and his third at this meeting where he had been twice unplaced. He was dropping down in claiming price, which no doubt accounted for his heavy support. Robust was in rather tight quarters around the far turn but gained gradually oh the pacemaking Famous Shake when clear and his winning margin was a neck. The warmest weather of the year greeted the 11,792" fans attending the races today. Light summer attire was a "must." The track was at its best. Cox in Saddle Apprentice Willie Cox was on the favorites in the first two races and although he failed with Participation in the opener, he clicked in the second with Wood H. Participation finished third to Heutel and De Liso in a six-furlong claiming event, while Wood H won by four and one-half lengths from Shining Deed in the second. Each event attracted a dozen starters and the Daily Double paid 0.60. It marked the maiden success for Heutel and the first of the year for Wood H. Apprentice Cox registered his second victory of the afternoon when he rode El Pair Me to a four and a half length success in the fourth race. The winner, who was recently claimed by Mikel Farm, was raised ,000 in claiming price but had little trouble clicking in better company. He passed the pacemaking Cockofthewalk in the stretch to draw out in the last eighth. Cockofthewalk saved second place from the favored Rusty Brown. The well-played public choice, Petes Best, managed to eke out a nose win over Best Array in the third and the result was in doubt until the photographs had been examined. Petes Best, ridden by Skoron-ski, was well rated early and took command in the stretch, but Best Array came strongly in the middle of the track and just failed to get up. The wistahce was one and one-sixteenth miles and Ferry Pilot finished third. Legatee, from the Brown Hotel Stable, won the fifth race and paid 5.40. Jockey Don Scurlock sent the three-year-old son of Seven Hearts to the front of Blen Sand soon after the start and he held the latter all the way to win by three parts of a length. Jacktown raced in third place throughout, with the favored Judy being unplaced.
