CROSS RING took a short lead rounding he first turn and increasing it on the backstretch, withstood a mild challenge nearing the stretch turn and pulled away again in the stretch when put to pressure. OUR FOLLY was unable to keep up with the pace, but came fast through the stretch. WILL YOU DANCE lost ground in the stretch, but was racing well at the end. CAJAC moved up on the backstretch, but raced wide nearing the final turn and then bore out and weakened. JACKIE VAN had good early speed. ALBEMARLE and HEDGEBILL were unable to keep up and were never dangerous. Overweight— Will You Dance, 4 pounds; Jackie Van, 1; Laughing Fox, 2. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. OFF AT 5:18 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. ALS BOURBON was never too far from the pace and, saving ground where possible when ready to make his move, found an opening in the stretch to best TRANSATLANTIC. The latter slipped through on the inside of LYLE*S FIRST when the latter bore out on the far turn and raced well thereafter. COPETE closed strongly around the stretch turn and was going well at the finish. LYLES FIRST displayed fine early speed, but lost much ground by racing wide most of the way and went exceptionally wide on the stretch turn. REPARTEE quit badly when it came to an issue. Start good from stall gate for all but FIXED STAR. Won driving, third the same. JAY EDWARD raced close to CONVAIR in the early running, took command between calls on the backstretch and continued gamely on the outside through the stretch. HAND SALUTE slipped through on the inside of JAY EDWARD nearing the far turn to take a short lead and held on well in the final drive to finish in a dead-heat with JAY EDWARD. SEGREGATE made up ground while racing on the inside. CONVAIR tired. GEE-LIGHT failed to threaten in a dull effort. FIXED STAR refused to break with the others and was virtually left, but raced well for six furlongs, and then tired. Attendance, 11,542; Total Mutuel Pool, 82,500. t „ . . .
