BLUE FLASH, a sharp factor from the beginning, came to the outside of the leaders to take command when ready and maintained a clear advantage under adept handling. NOVEL REQUEST, outrun early, was unable to reach the winner when making her belated bid, but easily bested the others. GALLIES PRIDE raced forwardly to the furlong marker, then tired as a result of her early efforts. PREJOLI gave way suddenly after six furlongs. HYPERPLAY was outdistanced early. LITTLE BEAR, away fastest, attempted to lug in during the running, failed to respond to left-handed punishment and was unable to cope with the winner. HAWAIKI raced evely through the late stages without apparent mishap. EFFERVESCENCE lacked the necessary rally. FORSAKEN was outrun. MILANZA tired in the going. SINGIN IN RAIN never threatened. EVANS MOUNTAIN gradually improved his position on the inside to attain the runner-up position on the final turn, closed energetically, but failed to seriously endanger the top one. BAY HASH, slow to gain best stride, finished fast and probably would prefer a longer distance. SOME LORD began sluggishly. STANDEE raced wide. SICKLES SOUND was reluctant during the early running, was guided to the inside for the stretch run, but was not good enough. DR. STANLEY moved up menacingly at the furlong marker, then weakened. SUN WARRIOR stepped to the fore immediately after the start, repelled repeated challenges from LANDLOCKED to outdistance the latter when settled for the drive and continued gamely when urged LANDLOCKED made several attempts to overtake the leader after a half mile, drifted out slightly at the head of the stretch, then closed with good courage. FULL BROTHER raced within striking distance while on the outside, but failed to make up appreciable ground when punished. VIRTUOUS lacked early foot. TORTILLA failed to stay.
